And now for a commercial…

Until I can find a page to come after the page before this… it’s time for a Commercial,
or at least something. How about I post my Christmas wish list now, ya, why not…

Dear Santa…
You know I’ve been really good (ya right), so how about it, it’s about time, right?
All good things come to those who wait, or take them…
Here’s my Christmas wish list, hope this gives you enough time!

I would like…
1. A 4 bladed completely refurbished MU2, to get me here & there, without too much fan fare.

2. A pair of sea side floating batches for those days when simply the land just will not do.

3. A pocket sized flashlight for those long trips ahead.
4. Ah what the heck… and a nice little Piper too, for when a twin turbo just will not do.
Ok, so we got a deal, and I’ll be good! Any chance of delivery before Christmas?

Best read just before bedtime.
It’s… it’s updated, it’s altered, it’s, it’s also highly fractured & stir fried for more!
Remember the Twilight Zone & the Kanamits, the episode titled
To Serve Man… it was a long time ago.

These days we have CERN & the Large Hadron Collider and now the Higgs Boson as well… a particle thought to give matter mass. This is so far beyond the Twilight Zone… I wonder, could the
Large Hadron Collider actually be one big tenderizer from the Kanamits back for more?
Welcome to Story Time.

Years ago, the Twilight Zone, ‘To Serve Man’, a great little show, here’s the story line…
Flying saucers began appearing on Earth, lots of them, everywhere! Inside were alien beings called Kanamits, 9 foot tall creatures, big heads & mechanical sounding voices to converse with man. One Alien Kanamit Ambassador addressed the UN & offered friendship, asserting their intentions were to help solve earth’s global problems, hunger and energy shortages. In return they asked for… well, watch the video, it’s short 1min/22seconds long, but I can say…

Before leaving, the alien ambassador accidentally left a book in the UN chambers. Military specialists snatched it & immediately went to work attempting to decode it.

Meanwhile, the Kanamits convinced the planet’s leaders to demilitarize & simultaneously began ferrying interested humans to their home planet in spaceships to see what a wonderful place they live in… yum, ya right! Unfortunately, no human could be found that ever returned to tell the real story of what was going on up in Kanamit-Ville.

Panning forward… as the miltary scientists were deciphering the book, one scientist decided to travel to the alien planet to see first-hand what it was like. As he was boarding the space ship for departure in New York, his assistant had found part of the book deciphered & realized all was not well! She rushed to the airport to stop him, but on her arrival she was stopped by one of the Kanamits at the gate & while struggling to free herself from the being’s grasp, she screamed to the scientist… “The book, it’s called To Serve Man… it’s, it’s a cookbook!”

It made for great television back in the 1960′s, and a nice little excerpt 29 years later in the movie The Naked Gun 2 1/2.

Anyways… this Large Hadron Collider, what is this thing?
Maybe the collider is about to become our galaxy’s largest ever known tenderizer & the
Higgs Bosun particles are about to give human matter added mass, up there in Kanamit-Ville, after being shrink wrapped here, then shipped out to the Kanamits out there, for their dining pleasure… a zap of the collider, a bit of flambe, hey… just another one them fancy alien restaurants?
Guess who’s coming for dinner! Food for thought. Have you hugged an Alien yet today?

Have a good night & that’s it for Story Time.

Me, a Pirate, I don’t think so but maybe, let’s see…

So I went looking to sea,
to see what it takes to become a
PIRATE, a BUCCANEER, &/or even a PRIVATEER

and here’s what I found on those notorious three,
but first, here’s a wee Pirate’s tune for you while reading up on those three.

BUCCANEERS… usually worked the Caribbean Sea, specializing in attacking
Spanish merchantmen, operating under a commission from the British Crown.
Britain & Spain were at war & Britain found Buccaneers to be a cheap navy.

PRIVATEERS… also operated under a British commission,
but worked the trade routes outside the Caribbean.

PIRATES… operated without a commission, totally far too Arrrr for me!

If faced with a commission, to roam the many seas, to serve as a Buccaneer or a Privateer, for pirateering, I would never consider the life of Pirate, unless there was no other way… which explains possibly why I have this uncontrollable urge & desire to go Arrrr when near the sea.

Enough of this pondering, a ways back, while walking along a boardwalk by the sea,
a Siren said to me…
You look like a Pirate! I winked, smiled & said Thank you fair Maiden,
and thought to myself, how lucky that is something I have never become, and I continued
walking by the edge of the sea, with dreaming reminders of where a Pirate most desires to be,
immersed in sea therapy and on that note… here’s to the Sea, those Buccaneers & Privateers, but never to those unruly Pirates…
unless one of them happens to be me! Arrrr!

Dedicated to my friend RB!

The Volvo Ocean Race

Back in 1973-74, the first race took place as the Whitbread Round The World Race, testing the crews against some of the most ferocious elements that man can encounter. Until today, it remains an extraordinary race, and once seen, will never be forgotten!
